Old Paris Porcelain

Our large collection of Old Paris Porcelain here at Pickwick Antiques has always been a favorite of mine. The beautiful gilding, paintings and decoration make these pieces ones that are not easily forgotten.

According to the blog - http://antiques-everyday.blogspot.com collectors all over the world and especially those in antebellum homes in the South seek out these beautiful pieces of porcelain. Old Paris Porcelain can also be known as "Vieux Paris". These pieces can be found as vases, urns, clocks, figures, inkwells, perfume bottles, and more. Old Paris pieces were created in and around the city of Paris from the mid 1700's to the end of the Second Empire.  Here's a look at some of our collection here at Pickwick Antiques.

This Magnificent 19th Century Centerpiece is a great example of the finest quality hard paste produced by the most well known European Porcelain Factory of the past Three Centuries. The entire piece is hand-painted with c scroll highlights in gold and beautifully painted floral decoration. The oval reticulated bowl tops a sturdy center column with putti figures cascading around floral decoration in relief. The center column is on a solid square hand-painted base with c scroll feet. The two sections are separated at the base of the center column. Each section is separately marked with the Meissen Factory cross swords identification. Circa 1860-1870

The Beauty of Rose Medallion Porcelain

The Rose Medallion pieces of Porcelain that we have in our showroom have caught my eye since day one. These pieces are beautiful, colorful, and tell a story. We have such a wide variety of Rose Medallion pieces here at Pickwick Antiques from plates to bowls and vases to lamps.

Rose Medallion pieces are some of the most highly collectible porcelain that can be found today! According to thewisecollector.com this porcelain is know known as "Chinese Export" and these pieces were made in China exclusively for export between the years 1780 and 1880 and into the 20th Century. Higher quality Rose Medallion uses gold to highlight in hair, vines, birds, and butterflies. According to antiques.lovetoknow.com the Rose Medallion pieces have birds and people while similar styles such as Rose Mandarin have people and no birds and Canton that has neither birds or people. We have all three of these pieces in our showroom but today let's spotlight a few of the Rose Medallion pieces we have!
